The Center for Arts and Media

North Fort Myers High School is proud to be the Center for Arts and Media in the West Zone. North High offers more than 100 courses that comprise the seven different programs which are available to students who apply for, audition for, and are accepted to the Center for Arts and Media. Classes in the Center range from game simulation and ballet to acting and sculpture, but all prepare students for success in their advanced studies whether it be in the visual or performing arts. At North Fort Myers High School, we encourage students to take advantage of ALL that North offers, as a result much of our student body participates in both the Center for Arts and Media and the Cambridge AICE program.

The North Fort Myers High School Center for Arts and Media provides an exciting opportunity for artistically talented high school students in the West Zone. Once selected, students will become part of an artistic environment designed to develop their talents to the highest possible level while fostering an appreciation and love of the arts which will serve them well in the pursuit of the next step in their educational training and chosen careers. Students interested in becoming part of our programs need to complete an application online.

Admission to the North Fort Myers High School Center for Arts and Media West Zone program is by audition only. In addition to the North Fort Myers High School Center for Arts and Media application, a West Zone School Choice application should also be completed according to the published timeline.

Should a student be accepted into the Arts and Media program following his or her audition, that student may be released from the school initially assigned by School Assignment in order to attend North Fort Myers High School's Center for Arts and Media program. All students enrolling in the Arts and Media program must complete four semesters in the program to be considered for a waiver. Should they choose to leave the program prior to the completion of four semesters, then the student is subject to reentry into the school choice lottery. Students concentrating in dance will complete an intensive course of study in choreography, performance, ballet, modern, and other dance techniques. In addition to providing instructional opportunities within the full spectrum of recognized dance styles, the program places a strong emphasis upon artistic quality, aesthetics, and career preparation. Regular association with practicing professionals as well as multidisciplinary programming with other departments will be an important aspect of the dance department’s curriculum. It is the goal of the dance department to provide all of its students with a wide range of quality opportunities and experiences that will allow them to prepare for advanced study, professional growth, and personal fulfillment.

There are seven tracks offered in the Digital Media program: Digital Photography, Digital Design/Illustration, Gaming, 3D Modeling, Animation, TV Production Broadcasting, and TV Production Short Film/Documentary. Our program focuses on developing each student’s artistic creativity within the track of their choosing. By graduation, media students will have a high-quality electronic portfolio including audio, video, film, and graphic samples of their work, as well as the training and experience necessary to enter an advanced digital media program or to embark upon a career in media arts.

Industry certifications are an integral part of the Digital Media program. Each exam passed earns them professional certification proving their comprehensive, associate-level knowledge of the software learned. Certifications are also recognized by most schools for college credit. Each digital media track offers certifications that vary depending on the course taken.
