Digital Design

The North Fort Myers High School Digital Design track consists of four courses and two industry certifications. Students in this track start out learning the foundations of illustration, both traditional and digital, and are then led through the process of creating all manner of graphic work, including logos, branding materials, package design, and print media. As they progress, students will have the opportunity to earn their certification in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.

Illustration (Digital Design 1 - 8209510)

North Fort Myers High School offers Digital Design 1 as an introductory course that combines traditional drawing with technology. Students become familiar with basic tools in both Photoshop and Illustrator and how to use digital drawing tablets.

Adobe Photoshop (Digital Design 2 - 8209520)

In Digital Design 2 students become familiar with graphic design concepts and applications, learning how to use Adobe Photoshop to manipulate photos, create graphics, design for screen and print media and much more. Students have the opportunity to earn their professional certification in Adobe Photoshop during this course.

Teacher recommendation is required.

Adobe Illustrator (Digital Design 3 - 8209530)

As students move up to Digital Design 3, they apply their skills and knowledge through more advanced projects and practical applications of design such as marketing and advertising, packaging design, creation of graphics for large displays and more. Students also become familiar with Adobe Illustrator for creation of vector graphics in this course and have the opportunity to earn their Adobe Illustrator Certified Associate Certificate.

Students gain incredible experience as they put their skills and creativity to work designing publicity for school events, promotional materials and, in some cases, students may be asked to apply their skills for external organizations and business. Students also have the opportunity to participate in contests such as "Pride and Patriotism," "Doodle 4 Google," "The Norm Project," "Digital Lee" and more.

Portfolio (Digital Design 4 - 8209540)

Students in Digital Design 4 use their combined knowledge of design, Photoshop, and Illustrator to create several independent portfolio pieces. They also have more focused opportunities to work on practical application projects for the school and for other clients in the area.

Andy Jeter

 Andy Jeter Mr. Jeter earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Electronic Intermedia at the University of Florida, a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction: Computer Education from the University of Phoenix and is currently working on his Doctorate of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. In addition to teaching and going to school, he is a freelance graphic designer and artist. Mr. Jeter has presented multiple times on a variety of educational technology topics at the Future in Educational Technology Conference and has had an article published in Technology Horizons in Education magazine.
