The focus of the Technology & Career Education Department is to make students aware of the many changes in technology. Through its courses in Accounting Applications, Computing for College and Careers, Administrative Office Technology, Digital Design, and Cooperative Business Education, instruction is provided that helps the students meet the many challenges in today's society. Completion of a three-course program can qualify a student for the Bright Futures-Gold Seal Scholarship.
North High places a special emphasis on technology and its use as an accelerator for teachers, staff, and students. There are currently over 700 computers on campus, and the school student-to-computer ratio stands at 2.4 to 1. North provides eight dedicated computer labs for its engineering, technology, and video production classes, as well as six additional labs that can be reserved by teachers whose rooms are not equipped with computers.
AutoCAD© Architecture software, the AutoCAD for architects, enables instantaneous productivity and smooth collaboration within a software environment you already know.
Students at North High use AutoCAD and Architectural Desktop software as purpose-built architectural design and drafting tools make for efficient, intuitive creation of construction documents.
North High isn't just an Arts school. It's an Arts & Media school. Students enrolled at North have the opportunity to study computer-based design courses that allow students to work hands-on with the same cutting-edge software as design professionals.
In the area of 3D modeling and design, students at North use a modeling, rendering, animation package called Autodesk 3ds Max.

Digital Design focuses on the design of digitally mediated environments and experiences. It is distinguished by being created for people to experience on computers in digital processing environments and other time-based media. It involves interactive, malleable, and motion message development, expanding to two-way communication in which the content can respond, adapt, and change in response to user, host or outside circumstances.
Motion allows form and content to utilize the added dimension of time to their communicative capacity, while sound provides additional sensory capabilities. North High's digital design courses offer students the opportunity to explore design within the computing environment, from 2D and 3D animation to design for interactive media and network systems.
North High's digital photography classes are designed to teach students satisfactory skills and gain knowledge of the art and science of Digital SLR Photography. Students will develop technical skills that lead to the success in Digital SLR camera operation, as well as a working knowledge of the language of photography.
Digital Photography courses are offered as part of Business and Technology Education and the North High Collegiate Academy. The courses allow students to develop a personal awareness and knowledge of photography as a communication process. Students are taught how to create, manipulate, and optimize images for print and the Web using various software applications, including Adobe Photoshop CS4, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Flash.

Graphic design is such an important part of our visual world that you can see examples of it almost everywhere you look. Your daily newspaper or favorite magazine will have layout and visual content prepared by a Graphic Designer.
Commercials, whether printed or multimedia, will have been through a graphic design phase. So will record and CD covers, business logos, TV and movie credits, and Internet web sites.
The list goes on. There is a lot of graphic design work out there, and increasingly it is graduates of Graphic Design Schools programs who are best able to take advantage of it.

Web page design is a process of conceptualization, planning, modeling, and execution of electronic media content delivery via Internet in the form of technologies (such as markup languages) suitable for interpretation and display by a web browser or other web-based graphical user interfaces (GUIs).
The intent of web design is to create a web site (a collection of electronic files residing on one or more web servers) that presents content (including interactive features or interfaces) to the end user in the form of web pages once requested. Such elements as text, forms, and bit-mapped images (GIFs, JPEGs, PNGs) can be placed on the page using HTML, XHTML, or XML tags. Displaying more complex media (vector graphics, animations, videos, sounds) usually requires plug-ins such as Flash, QuickTime, Java run-time environment, etc.
