University of Cambridge AICE Program

The Advanced International Certificate of Education program (AICE) is an innovative and accelerated method of academic study offered solely through the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), a division of the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, England.

The AICE program and cirriculum is overseen by the University of Cambridge, an institution consistently ranked as one of the top 5 academic universities in the world. It is a flexible, broad-based, two-year curriculum, which is offered worldwide at schools and colleges in over 150 countries. For over 170 years the prestigious University of Cambridge has been setting worldwide curriculum standards through their examinations.

AICE features courses written specifically as preparation for honors degree programs. It encourages high academic standards and provides an ideal basis for study at the college and university level.

Four Year Program

The Cambridge program is divided into two distinct sections:

• Pre-AICE courses for the 9th & 10th Grade (also called IGCSE)
• AICE courses for the 11th & 12th Grade

The North High AICE program offers eight different areas of focus, each one designed to prepare students for a seamless transition into post-secondary education:

Pre-AICE and AICE at North

The AICE program at North Fort Myers High School includes a pre-AICE program for freshmen and sophomores with advancement to AICE courses during the junior and senior years.

An AICE Diploma is awarded on the basis of examination scores and course work performance during six full-credit courses. By requiring students take a minimum of six full-credit courses with at least one course chosen from each of the three subject areas, the AICE Diploma ensures that all students follow a broad and balanced academic program.

Advanced (A) Level and Advanced Subsidiary (AS) Level certificates listing subjects passed are issued to those students who do not earn the full diploma. Within this framework, AICE offers an extremely flexible curriculum which can be tailored to students’ interests, abilities, and future plans.

AICE Worldwide

American universities have responded enthusiastically to AICE. The Florida Legislature has identified AICE as a graduation option and acceleration mechanism through which high school students can be awarded up to 30 hours of college credit. Students earning the AICE Diploma qualify for the maximum Florida Bright Futures tuition scholarship and students completing the curriculum can earn the Florida Medallion Scholars Tuition Award.
