North Fort Myers High School is proud to be the Center for Arts and Media in the West Zone. North High offers more than 100 courses that comprise the seven different programs which are available to students who apply for, audition for, and are accepted to the Center for Arts and Media. Classes in the Center range from game simulation and ballet to acting and sculpture, but all prepare students for success in their advanced studies whether it be in the visual or performing arts. At North Fort Myers High School, we encourage students to take advantage of ALL that North offers, as a result much of our student body participates in both the Center for Arts and Media and the Cambridge AICE program.
The North Fort Myers High School Center for Arts and Media provides an exciting opportunity for artistically talented high school students in the West Zone. Once selected, students will become part of an artistic environment designed to develop their talents to the highest possible level while fostering an appreciation and love of the arts which will serve them well in the pursuit of the next step in their educational training and chosen careers. Students interested in becoming part of our programs need to complete an application online.
Admission to the North Fort Myers High School Center for Arts and Media West Zone program is by audition only. In addition to the North Fort Myers High School Center for Arts and Media application, a West Zone School Choice application should also be completed according to the published timeline.
Should a student be accepted into the Arts and Media program following his or her audition, that student may be released from the school initially assigned by School Assignment in order to attend North Fort Myers High School's Center for Arts and Media program. All students enrolling in the Arts and Media program must complete four semesters in the program to be considered for a waiver. Should they choose to leave the program prior to the completion of four semesters, then the student is subject to reentry into the school choice lottery. (School District of Lee County Administrative Regulation 1.63)
The Center for Arts and Media holds auditions every year in late February or early March. There are currently seven tracks within the Arts & Media program: Dance, Media Arts, Instrumental Music, Orchestra, Vocal Arts, Theatre Arts and Visual Arts.
Students who are currently enrolled in a West Zone high school or who are currently enrolled in eighth grade at a West Zone middle school are eligible to audition and participate in the Center for Arts and Media. Students interested in becoming part of our programs need to complete an application online or, if this is not possible, stop by the main office to pick up an application.
Students who complete the specific major track of their department will graduate with a total of at least 10 credits in the arts. Students who study in the major track are committed to developing their talents and experiencing the most beneficial components of the program. Majors have access to special events, work with guest artists, and attend field trips, conferences, and other enrichment activities that maintain a rigorous standing of learning in the arts. All students enrolling in the Center for Arts and Media must complete four semesters in the program to be considered for a waiver should they choose to leave the program (School District of Lee County Administrative Regulation 1.63)
Students who complete the specific minor track of their department will graduate with a total of at least 6 credits in the arts. The minor track program provides students the opportunity to increase skill levels in order to audition again for placement in the major track or the chance to increase their opportunity to study the arts at a more focused level. All students enrolling in the Arts and Media BARSPNprogram must complete four semesters in the program to be considered for a waiver should they choose to leave the program. (School District of Lee County Administrative Regulation 1.63).

Industry certifications are an integral part of the Digital Media program. Each exam passed earns them professional certification proving their comprehensive, assocaiate-level knowledge of the software learned. Certifications are also recognized by most schools for college credit. Each digital media track offers certifications that vary depending on the course taken.
MUSICAL ARTS (Vocal Arts/Instrumental Music/Orchestra)
Students within the music department will have the opportunity to select a concentration in the area of instrumental or vocal music. Based upon the selection and the specific talent area of the student, a stimulating course of study will be designed to develop this talent to its highest possible level. In addition to classes in all fundamental musical areas, each student will participate in a wide array of ensemble and individual performance experiences.
THEATRE ARTS (ACTING)
The visual arts program at North Fort Myers High School Center for Arts and Media will concentrate upon the optimum development of each student’s artistic skills and techniques. Through immersion in a state of the art environment, contact with successful practicing artists, and training by a highly skilled staff, students will become strong visual communicators, creative thinkers, and resourceful problem solvers. The opportunity to exhibit as well as to participate in multidisciplinary arts projects will assist students in the development of a global perspective regarding the interrelationship of visual arts to other arts and to our society. Guidance in the compilation of personal portfolios and marketing skills will contribute to the prospects for successful pursuit of the next phase of each student’s education and/or chosen career.
